Group Retreats

denton_lake_boatsCome and enjoy the beautiful Hudson River Valley, sit, relax and take in the magnificent mountain views. Have your meals prepared for you when you stay at the Agape Center. Your group could congregate in Charlotte’s Room or maybe outside on the deck to enjoy the crisp fresh air of Fall and the beautiful colors of the hillside.

Our cabins are equipped with kitchenettes so groups never have to leave the comfort of their own cabin, however, meals can be provided by our kitchen staff with advanced notice.

Holmes Presbyterian Camp and Conference Center has 550 acres and over 7 miles of well marked trails accompanied by a Trail Map. Canoeing, paddle boating and swimming are always a favorite with the kids as well as the adults when arranged ahead of time (extra fee).   Holmes has four lakes where the fishing is always great or just sit on the shoreline and reflect.

Our High & Low Ropes courses are a fun challenge in a non-competitive, non-judgmental environment. The basic goals of the Ropes and Initiative Courses are to help participants increase their level of confidence, learn to function meaningfully and productively in a group setting, develop an increased level of understanding and appreciation for the natural environment and instill a feeling of fun through adventure education.

There are many golf courses in the area, from Par 3 to championship courses as well as many historic sites.

Call 845-878-6383 for reservations or email holmes@holmescamp.org to inquire about dates and rates.

Holmes Confirmation Retreats

Bring your confirmation classes to Holmes for a weekend full of exploring faith and enjoying fellowship with youth from other churches from the region!  We will spend time together as a large group, divided into small groups that represent all the participating churches, as well as some time for camp fun!

Confirmation Retreats are based in Nunemaker, a ski-lodge facility with room to study, play and sleep.  Meals are provided by Chef Bobby up the hill at Agape, Friday dinner through Saturday dinner.  As weather permits, we will also be able to hike and play!

In addition to clothes, toiletries, Bible and notebook, please also make sure to pack bedding (sleeping bag or sheets/blankets) and pillows for your bunk bed in Nunemaker.  Please refrain from bringing valuables or electronics – we don’t want you to loose something and expect you to fully participate during our time together! We will spend time outside, so make sure to pack plenty of warm clothes.  The temperature at Holmes is often 10-15 degrees cooler than at home!

Registration for these retreats must go through your church!  Please print the 2017 Confirmation Retreat Brochure, making a copy for each youth and adult participant and submit them, and church check made out to “Presbyterian Conference Association” to Holmes Presbyterian Camp and Conference Center, 60 Denton Lake Rd, Holmes NY 12531.

Registration/Arrival will be Friday at 6:30 pm, with dinner served at 7:00 pm.  The retreat will conclude with dinner on Saturday at 6:00 pm.

Retreats will be limited to 60 participants; a minimum of 20 participants is needed to run a retreat.

Each church is expected to bring at least 1 adult for every 7 youth.  Adult leaders will be expected to help facilitate small group discussions and activities, using topics and supplies provided.  Adult leaders have found these retreats as great opportunities to get to know their youth better, and have gained as much faith development as their youth!  If you have any questions or concerns about being able to fulfill this role, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Natasha Taylor, Summer Camp and Youth Programs Director at ntaylor@holmescamp.org
